History

History

The Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Padjadjaran is steadfastly committed to providing world-class education and ensuring its students embark on a global and high-caliber academic journey.

The inception of the Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) can be traced back to a pivotal discussion between Colonel Dr. Soemantri Hardjoprakoso, then Head of the Army Psychology Center, and a group of military psychologists. The question at the heart of this discussion was: who would nurture the future generation of Army Psychology cadres? Captain Soemitro Kartosoedjono, Dipl. Psych. wholeheartedly embraced this vision, and the subsequent step involved reaching out to the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Unpad, an institution recognized for its esteemed faculty, including Dr. W.A. Gerungan, Drs. J. Wulur, and Prof. Dr. Mochtar Buchori.

As a leading institution for psychology education in Indonesia, the Faculty of Psychology is steadfastly committed to spearheading the advancement of psychological knowledge and its application for the betterment of humanity.
Mision
  1. To implement an integrated pentadharma (teaching, research, community service, student activities, and partnerships) that aligns with the needs of all stakeholders.
  2. To foster the advancement of psychological knowledge through internationally-calibered research and strategic partnerships aligned with the latest advancements in science, technology, and societal developments.
  3. To implement professional and accountable management of the pentadharma to enhance stakeholder trust and the Faculty of Psychology’s reputation.
